Testing PostMarketOS On MS Surface GO 2
Just updated my native BitWarden app for SailfishOS, BitSailor
"If it doesn't support #WhatsApp natively, it's going to be a failure" was one of the common criticisms during #UbuntuPhone times ten years ago.
"Does it support #Signal?" is a common question about #linuxphones.
Good reminder that we still haven't figured out messaging at all and #lockin can easily happen even with solutions that look more free and open at first glance. There are still no good alternatives to Signal's iOS/Android apps.
Erf, I upgraded my #mobian #librem5 and it break the mobile-config-firefox

I dig a little and seems to be an issue with FileUtils

We can keep discussing about kernels, drivers and which are "true" Linux phones and which are not, or we can focus on getting as many people on the FOSS phone ecosystem and improving the rather sorry state of so many applications, and I would VERY much prefer the latter
Fediverse! Talk to me about #LinuxPhones! I want to diversify from #iOS with current events being what they are, but am only a bit #Linux literate. Would appreciate personal testimonials!
Currently looking at #PinePhone & #ShiftPhone… opinions? Other suggestions?
[edit] Would mostly be: doing financial things & social media (assuming via browser). Would like to try #UbuntuTouch, so I could try installing Signal? Nothing hugely demanding, just needs to get online via cell signal.
I Tried A Real Linux Smartphone, Its...
It's well-established that using well-documented, popular libraries maximizes AI capabilities. Linux phones are ideally positioned for mobile AI development precisely for this reason.

@Liberux any plans to integrate open source AI?
Liberux NEXX is a Linux smartphone with a RK3588S chip, 32GB RAM, and a 5G modem (crowdfunding)
With all the BS of Apple doing their AI spying (amongst other issues), it's that time of year where I once again look for a "third party" phone to migrate to as a daily driver.
I've followed lots of Linux phones (running Ubuntu Touch, KDE Plasma Mobile, postmarketOS and others), feature phones running KaiOS, and others.
Heck I was even building my own phone on an RPi years ago (https://web.archive.org/web/20210725154717/https://www.tinker.sh/kde-plamo-rpi/ ) and have been following the PinePhone project for a very long time.
My current research is pointing towards a Fairphone 4 running e/OS (degooglefied android). I live in the US, so this is as close to the Fairphone as I can get currently: https://murena.com/america/shop/smartphones/brand-new/murena-fairphone-4/ (edit: Annnnd, it's no longer available.)
Really I just need a phone that runs Signal and can run some sort of GPS app. Everything else I can do via a web browser.
I hate Apple/iOS phones. The only thing I hate more than Apple phones are Google/Android phones.
There is now an 'on the go' section in Flathub to promote mobile apps
#pumoku progress:
* Lots of UI polishing
* finishing screen improvements
* hints and stats seems to appear at some point :p
* Progress indication, in digit keys and global
* Landscape orientation support (in progress)
* Nice icon
* ... and more
Pumoku is a #plasmamobile #sudoku app, for #linuxphones (and other mobile devices), not yet released but maybe in a not so distant future?
#digitalemuendigkeit with #debian on smartphones, aka #mobian . I was suprised that over 20 people joined yesterdays meetup and some brought their #linuxphones with them. People played around with #phosh #kdeplasma #mobian #postmarketos #Fairphone5 ..
Also thanks @awai for the #pinephonepro rental. It was used to present the slides and was flashed with #mobian trixie. People could choose between #lomiri, #phosh and #kdeplasma in the login manager.
I’ve been daily-driving a #LinuxMobile for over 2 years—both the #Librem5 and OnePlus 6, #PureOS and #PostmarketOS. I’ve loved the experience, especially the #Phosh UI and #Libadwaita apps.
But #LinuxPhones aren’t reliable enough for me now. With a newborn, I need to be reachable, so I’m switching back to Android.
Any recommendations? I’m torn between a #GooglePixel or #Fairphone with #GrapheneOS / #CalyxOS. Bonus points if I can dual boot Linux, or likely install it in some years!
Recommendations for mobile Linux desktop environments that run well on an x86 tablet?
