Robert Mader<p>First try to create <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> swISP tuning files for the OnePlus6 with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ideasonboard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ideasonboard</span></a> folks at <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/embeddedworld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>embeddedworld</span></a>. Unfortunately we hit an issue that we couldn't fix on-side - got a few todos to make sure things work out next time!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/postmarketos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxmobile</span></a></p>
Robert Mader<p>4. Thanks to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> enablement work, udmabuf is available to users by default in many distros now and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/systemd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>systemd</span></a> 257 sets an uaccess tag. It's not yet available in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/flatpak" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>flatpak</span></a> without device=all, though.<br>5. The main missing DRM formats are three-plane &gt;= 10 bit ones that are compatible with what sw-decoders produce.<br>6. AFAICS the approach should work equally well for clients like <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mpv" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mpv</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>firefox</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>chromium</span></a>.</p>
Robert Mader<p>P.S.: the idea was inspired by the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> sw-ISP and the MR can be found at</p><p><a href="https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/merge_requests/8540" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstream</span><span class="invisible">er/gstreamer/-/merge_requests/8540</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/gstreamer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gstreamer</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ffmpeg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ffmpeg</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wayland</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mesa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mesa</span></a></p>
David Heidelberg<p>Mon 3rd Feb, just a day after the <a href="https://floss.social/tags/FOSDEM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FOSDEM</span></a> we'll have small HackDay in Brussels — hopefully making more cameras run well on <a href="https://floss.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a>, <a href="https://floss.social/tags/embedded" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>embedded</span></a>, <a href="https://floss.social/tags/postmarketOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketOS</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://floss.social/tags/Mobian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mobian</span></a> </p><p>If you're interested to help with hacking around <a href="https://floss.social/tags/LinuxKernel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxKernel</span></a> CCS, <a href="https://floss.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> or <a href="https://floss.social/tags/Qualcomm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Qualcomm</span></a> CAMSS (not limited to) ping us on <a href="https://floss.social/tags/qcom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>qcom</span></a>-camss OFTC IRC channel or here.</p>
bhyoram<p>I can take a photo or video from WhatsApp Web on <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/librem5" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>librem5</span></a> using <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/pipewire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pipewire</span></a> on top of <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> with software IPA. The funny part is that I can't, yet, doi the same thing with native WhatsApp on <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/WayDroid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WayDroid</span></a>.</p>
Robert Mader<p>For <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linuxmobile</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/postmarketos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mobian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mobian</span></a> folks interested in cameras: there's a first version of patches for <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> softwareISP color correction matrix (CCM) support now: <a href="https://patchwork.libcamera.org/cover/22041/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">patchwork.libcamera.org/cover/</span><span class="invisible">22041/</span></a></p><p>Together with autofocus (AF) this probably the main missing feature to get a somewhat reasonable image quality on devices like the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pixel3a" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pixel3a</span></a> or <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/fairphone5" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fairphone5</span></a> with open drivers / close to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mainlinelinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mainlinelinux</span></a>.</p>
Laurent Pinchart<p>Nice improvements to the <a href="https://floss.social/tags/libcamera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libcamera</span></a> <a href="https://floss.social/tags/camshark" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>camshark</span></a> development application, showing live graphs of camera algorithms internal data. Debugging 3A issues is getting much easier.</p>
