dana hilliotEn me promenant cet après-midi, on a encore parlé neige avec quelques anciens qui marchaient sur les mêmes chemins. Ou plutôt de l'absence totale de neige, et des hivers d'antan.Je crois que c'est la première fois depuis que je vis en Auvergne où je n'ai pas chaussé les skis ou les raquettes cet hiver (excepté une fois en novembre). La petite station nordique où je travaillais dans le Cantal (au Ché) à la saison censément froide n'a même pas ouvert ses pistes cette année. À l'étage au-dessus, au col de Prat-de-Bouc, à 1400m (où je travaillais aussi de temps en temps), les pistes ont été fermées à la mi-février (et l'enneigement global aura été de toutes façons très modeste).Depuis quatre ou cinq ans, c'est la même chanson : il peut neiger bien sûr, suffit de températures autour de zéro degré et des précipitations. Ça arrive, et ça arrivera encore dans le futur. Chaque année, bon an mal an, on a droit à une tempête de neige, qui apporte une couche plus ou moins copieuse (j'ai des souvenirs d'un mètre cinquante de neige tombé en deux jours et une nuit). Le problème n'est pas là. Le problème c'est que cette couche fond à la vitesse du réchauffement climatique. La plupart du temps, pour ne pas dire immanquablement, l'épisode est suivi d'un accès de douceur, avec vent du sud et parfois de la pluie, cocktail irrésistible pour faire fondre toute l'épaisseur de neige que vous voulez (alors que naguère, cette couche pouvait demeurer en place durant plusieurs mois - j'en ai été témoin dans la première moitié des années 2000, c'était il n'y a donc pas si longtemps). Quand j'ai quitté le Cantal, en 2019, il y a très exactement, jour pour jour, 6 ans (déjà !), on ne se faisait aucune illusion sur l'avenir de nos stations et de l'enneigement en moyenne montagne. Les élus, les collectivités locales (et surtout les propriétaires de gîte, de restaurants, et de résidences secondaires => cf le message d'Allucia tout à l'heure : <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/@alluccia/114093173622167349" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://eldritch.cafe/@alluccia/114093173622167349</a> ), s'accrochent avec plus ou moins de ténacité à je ne sais quel espoir (en réalité, les élus finissent par retoquer les budgets, voire décident de fermer purement et simplement : un territoire comme le Cantal vit sous perfusion économique, et le tourisme hivernal coûte désormais plus qu'il ne rapporte. Le récit du grand ruissellement de l'économie des stations sur toute la population autochtone ne tient plus la route (a-t-il été jamais autre chose qu'un mythe capitaliste bourgeois ?) : la vérité, c'est que les investissements des collectivités locales dans les sports d'hiver non seulement profitent d'abord à une clientèle aisée (typiquement encore une subvention déguisée destinée à accroître le bonheur des classes assez privilégiées pour se payer des vacances d'hiver) mais aussi aux propriétaires de gîtes, d'hôtels, de restaurants, etc... Qui ne font pas partie du prolétariat en général. Bref, c'est de l'argent public siphonné et redirigé vers des populations qui ne souffrent pas de la pauvreté, c'est le moins qu'on puisse dire. Et ça devient non seulement indécent, mais absurde, quand la neige vient à manquer - sans parler des impacts environnementaux, l'accaparement de l'eau par les stations de ski alpin, les dégâts sur la flore et la faune, l'emprise territoriale de la station (et si l'on prend en compte les "externalités", les impacts en amont et en aval de l'activité proprement dite, la note est plus que salée - beaucoup plus qu'on daigne le reconnaître - comme d'habitude).Bref. N'empêche, une année sans ski de randonnée, ça fait longtemps que ça ne m'était pas arrivé. Certes, le déménagement, Iris qui vieillit (et moi aussi), ma répugnance à faire une heure de voiture pour aller prendre du plaisir sur la neige, cela aura aussi compté. Quand j'habitais dans le Cantal, à 1100 mètres d'altitude, il était plus facile de saisir l'occasion d'aller skier quand elle se présentait, parfois sur le pas de ma porte (et elle ne se présente, même sur les hauts-plateaux, que de plus en plus rarement). Anthony Ce matin j'ai choisi le noir et blanc pour exprimer notre moral météorologique. Cette impression que l'humidité s'insinue dans les moindres recoins. Lorsque la pluie cesse, la terre et la végétation n'ont pas le temps de sécher que, déjà, elle tombe à nouveau. Ici, ce temps est exceptionnel, et les âmes humaines n'ont pas l'habitude de se trouver si longtemps dans la grisaille. Anthony L'eau du Vidourle est désormais plus limpide. La pluie a cessé et le fleuve prend ici les teintes d'un petit torrent. Si les températures sont particulièrement douces, l'air et la terre sont exceptionnellement humides cette année. Les nappes phréatiques sont désormais bien remplies après plusieurs années de sécheresses, et il semble que les pluies continuent ces prochains jours.
