Today, I picked up my loose ends with regards to the #Czerweny #CZSpectrumPlus, the #rare #ZXSpectrumPlus clone from mid-1980s #Argentina.

Since I was unable to remove the ICs myself (did they use "nuclear solder" back in the day?! Those ICs sat tight in their holes) I asked a friend who had a friend who was up to the job and very professionally removed these at his workshop.

So today I soldered sockets in place and prepared a #Diagnostic #ROM in order to find out what the problem is. Looks bad.

I have already replaced all "lower" RAM chips with new ones, leaving the "upper" RAM as they were.

However, given that *all* memory seems to be faulty, I now expect the #ZX8401 to be the problem. So now I need to get either one of those modern drop-in replacements or start hunting a real one ...

On the up side, video is working and the beeper is beeping. At least.

Koniec gierkowej epoki: odinstalowałem Sea of Thieves.

Na Morzu Złodziei spędziłem ponad 100 dni IRL. Solo i z różnymi załogami (tu muszę pozdrowić mojego ulubionego współpirata @kazek) przepłynąłem razem ponad 16 tysięcy kilometrów i zaliczyłem ponad 1200 misji. W tym czasie zdobyłem ponad 66 milionów sztuk złota i 111 tysięcy dublonów.

Gra niestety sprawiała mi coraz mniej frajdy, a więcej frustracji. Każdy kolejny update dodawał nowe błędy, a zapowiadane nowe możliwości ledwo działały, albo w dniu premiery były odsuwane na później (np. w minionym tygodniu dodano ostatni element aktualnego sezonu, który miał pojawić się bodajże w październiku).

Stabilność i żwawość samej gry też zostawia dużo do życzenia. Ciągłe lagi i problemy z rejestracją trafień to codzienność.

Powoli traciłem serce do SoT-a i od kilku tygodni opuszczałem tradycyjne granie z ekipą w piątkowy wieczór. Dzisiaj w końcu uświadomiłem sobie, że po prostu nie mam zamiaru wracać i usunąłem grę.

Smuteczek trochę.

Holy cow, I must have had some energy around the 2012 timeframe! I found I had not one but two versions of Nodes built from entirely different codebases, for Android! I’ll attach videos in replies since I can’t attach more than 1 here. The first one below is built in Flash using the Flashbuilder tool from Adobe, which could target native device builds. The second one is a ‘native’ (Java) Android build. Neither one was released (and neither is finished, but both are playable).
